“Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.” Brené Brown
As someone who loves studying the past and may over-focus on how our own past shapes our future, I am posting personal content here that I find interesting and others are welcome to read. I picture this section as a public scrapbook, a location where I can share, for posterity’s sake, about important influences on my life. Friends know that I generally try to be an open book, sadly, to a fault quite honestly. However, I admire others who are vulnerable with their lives and would like to think I model the same. If you share any similar connections to or insights on my life and interests, I welcome your contact.
“Our shared vulnerability and imperfection nurtures and sustains our capacity for compassion. We have a choice. We can embrace our humanness, which means embracing our broken natures and the compassion that remains our best hope for healing. Or we can deny our brokenness, foreswear compassion, and, as a result, deny our own humanity.” Bryan Stevenson
“Sometimes what makes us insecure and vulnerable becomes the fuel we need
to achieve. The antidote for a snakebite is made from the poison, and the thing that made you go backward is the same force that will push you forward.” T. D. Jakes
