College Mascots that are Blue Devils

Can you believe 11 colleges are named after Blue Devils? Mascots started to appear in the early 1900s. The Blue Devils name originated from World War I when the “French “les Diables Bleus” or “the Blue Devils,” the nickname given to the French Alpine light infantry battalion. Technically, there are really only 10.5 colleges today as the Kaskaskia Blue Devils are just for the men’s teams. The women’s teams are called the Blue Angels.
