Phillip Jesse Doyle was my father’s father. This is his obituary and a video I recorded of him at his home on June 3, 1996.
He died 13.5 years later on December 21, 2009. He was born in Galax, Va., in 1920 and he was the son of the late Charlie Miller Doyle and Bertie Mae Price Doyle. He was a retired employee of the Maryland State Roads Commission, where he served as an equipment operator. For many years, he was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Princess Anne.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Virginia Ashley Doyle. He is the last surviving member from a family of 13 children. He was survived by six sons, Jim and his wife, Joanne, Lloyd and his wife, Rosann, Robert and his wife, Patsy and Elbert, all of Salisbury, Floyd and his wife, Peggy of La Plata, Md. and David and his wife, Cathy of Newark, Del; a daughter and her husband, Joyce and Ray Mays of Havre de Grace, Md. He had 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.”
