This is a 26 minute video of my father’s mother, my Mom-Mom. This video was recorded on June 23, 2001, 1 month and 2 weeks before she died unexpectedly from a heart attack.
Maude Virginia Ashley Doyle was born on February 14, 1922, in Clifton, Ashe County, North Carolina. When I worked for Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, we discovered that we lived 45 minutes away from where my Mom-Mom was born. My father found her original home in Ashe County and we visited the home ~2007.
Mom-Mom married my Pop-pop, Phillip Jesse Doyle on November 1, 1939, in Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland. They had 7 children, including their oldest, my father, Phillip James Doyle (1940–2018).
Mom-mom passed away on August 4, 2001 at the age of 79. I had just started my new job at Shenandoah University and was training new staff when I received the call that she had died of a heart attack. She was buried at Beechwood Memorial Cemetery in Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland.
